Anime Boy’s Head & Face Drawing Tutorial – This step-by-step tutorial explains how to draw an anime boy’s head and face. Demonstrates how to draw facial features with regular anime scales and place them on the head. There are also essential tips for shading and colors.

Anime Boy Drawing 8 Steps

The example of a boy used in this study could be between 10-15 years old. But when it comes to older anime characters, they can sometimes draw and look very small. So this type of character can also be used to draw a high school student.

Please keep in mind that there is no clear way to draw anime characters. Dimensions and placement of facial features vary greatly depending on the style and preferences of the artists.

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide general guidelines for drawing anime or manga facial features that can be very helpful if you are trying to learn to draw in style.

If you follow the tutorial using pencil and paper, make sure you draw straight lines for the first steps to quickly erase the different parts of the drawing if needed.

When you digitally draw, your options will depend on your software.

Step 1 – Building a Boy’s Head

As we draw the boys’ heads, we want to draw a round face as long faces make the character look older.

To paint the head in the front view, first, draw a straight line to help you make sure both sides are aligned. Draw the top of the lead closer to the half-circle, and from there, draw two lines down to the other. Draw another set of strings on those lines that will meet to form a chin.

To draw a side view of the head, pull the top of the head next to the oval shape and then remove the area of the nose/jaw on top of it.

When drawing a side view of a boy’s head, avoid drawing the lips of the first drawing. You can also estimate where the nose should go. By carefully positioning the nose, you can see the fourth step of the lesson.

Step 2 – Drawing A Boy’s Ears

To place the ears, draw a horizontal line in the middle of the head. Between this line and the chin, draw another horizontal line. The ears will be about as long as the distance between the two lines.

Please note that natural ears are very far from the head, but we will use different scales to draw an anime boy and not a real one.

Step 3 – Drawing A Boy’s Eyes

To paint the eyes, you can also use a horizontal line between the head. Draw eyes directly below this line.

Also, note that natural eyes are drawn directly in this line or above them. Anime characters usually have their eyes painted very low on their face.

The eyes should be comprehensive (long) as we draw a little boy. The large and wide eyes give the character a minimal look.

Draw eyebrows slightly above the eyes. You can also draw a small number of eyelashes between the eyebrows and eyes.

Step 4 – Drawing A Boy’s Nose

To set the nose, draw another horizontal line between the face and chin. Draw a nose above this line.

However, note that the actual nose is on the face’s surface. However, anime noses can be significantly reduced if you draw characters with huge eyes and long.

Step 5 – Drawing A Boy’s Mouth

To paint the mouth, draw another horizontal line between the nose and chin lines. But instead of removing the mouth directly on this line, you will want to pull it slightly above. The reason is that this line will give you a lower lip placement which in anime is usually not drawing at all.

Step 6 – Drawing Boy’s Hair

Although there are many ways to color anime hair, they are usually pulled with large clumps. For this, we will draw a style of dirty hair.

Step 7 – Cleaning the Drawing

When all the facial features are set and you have finished painting the hair, clean all the guidelines and wipe the scalp hidden parts of the hair. You may also want to override your drawing with heavy strokes or black lines.

When you are done, you should have a nice and clean drawing of the head and face of the anime boy.

Step 8 – Anime Style Color & Shading

The tracking system used for anime and cartoons is often called “Cel Shading.” In short, it is a tracing method where there is no gradient but a solid line between standard and shady areas.

For this study, we will use the most common shading. This means we will shade in areas where most normal light conditions are usually dark. In this case, it will be the neck and lower extremities of the hair that bend inwards towards the face.

You can also add eye shadows to create hair, eyelashes, and a shaded area on one side of the nose (usually, this will be the opposite of the light source).

The highlight areas will be eye reflections and highlighting in the hair. You may want to leave these whites altogether or shade them a little.

To color and shade, a drawing first fills in each area with its color and then applies the shadows at the top. When drawing on paper, leave out highlights / white markings if digital drawing is added after completing everything else.

Conclusion

There are many ways and styles to draw an anime character, but as mentioned, this tutorial gives you some guidelines to help achieve the typical anime look of a young male character.

How to Draw an Anime Boy Full Body Step by Step https://easyanimedrawings.com/draw-anime-boy-full-body-step-step/ https://easyanimedrawings.com/draw-anime-boy-full-body-step-step/#respond Tue, 08 Feb 2022 07:22:09 +0000 https://easyanimedrawings.com/?p=548 How to Draw an Anime Boy Full Body Step by Step

Draw an Anime Boy Full Body – This step-by-step tutorial explains how to draw an anime boy with a detailed classification of body measurements and general tips to achieve an anime look.

The boy in this study can be 10-15 years old. Depending on the style of the artists, sometimes older anime characters can be drawn to look younger. Usually, when characters are very stylish, they look younger (for example, Chibi).

Please note that the ratings below are suggestions and may vary by character and style.

If you are going to follow along with a pencil and paper, be sure to draw bright lines for the first steps of the drawing, as you will need to erase some later.

Step 1 – Anime Boy Body Breakdown

To make a character look younger, you will often draw him much thinner than his older counterpart. Physical characters will often appear older.

A good way to balance the body is to use the head.

Anime characters tend to have bigger heads compared to their bodies than real people (especially younger characters). In this lesson, the boy will have six and a half heads in length.

The height of the head and the “upper legs” of the body are about half the length of the whole body.

Also Read:-

Arm Measurements

The part where the hand is attached to the arm will go down almost to the horizontal position of the body part. Please also keep in mind that the arms in this example are slightly tilted to the sides so that the joints are slightly lower when the arm area is raised directly with the body.

The area from the wrist to the elbow and the elbow to the shoulder is approximately equal in length.

Leg Measurements

The legs are about half the length of the whole body.

The length of the legs from below the foot to below the knee is approximately equal to the length from below the knee to the horizontal position of the body.

Please note that the “front” leg is painted larger for the view than the hind leg in a side view.

Step 2 – Body Drawing

Star a drawing from the head and go down.

Start with a clear line drawing of the whole body without the slightest detail.

Drawing Front View

The great challenge of body painting with a preview (without having the right dimensions) is that both sides are equal.

To help you start your drawing by first making a straight line of what will be in the middle of the body. This will help you ensure that both parts of the body are evenly spaced.

Drawing Side View

A side view of the body may be more challenging to draw than the front view.

On the side, look at the different parts of the body curve in slightly different ways, as shown in the example above.

Drawing Different Ideas

If you want to draw a body with different views but in the same place, you can project a set of lines from one view to another. This will help you ensure that the body measurements in both cases are the same.

Once you have finished drawing the body’s shape, you can clear any building lines.

Step 3 – Face Painting

Draw facial features before you dye your hair (including the parts covered with hair).

The reason you want to do this is to avoid mistakes.

Step 4 – Hair Design

With this hairstyle, draw part of the hair following the shape of the head but not as long as the hair has volume.

Draw the ends of the hair out into bumps of various sizes curled in slightly different ways.

Step 5 – Drawing Clothes

For this, we will draw a boy wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and shoes.

Drawing a T-shirt

The upper part of the T-shirt is neatly painted around the shoulders. Make the sleeves “come out” towards the edges. As the shirt is not very tight, leave space between the body and the shirt to hang over the wider chest area.

Pull the shirt slightly wider as the area will have some folding.

Also Read:-

Short Drawing

Draw shorts starting at the bottom of the shirt (gently touch the legs) and then gently squeeze as they go down.

Drawing Shoes

You can draw the shape of the shoes to trace the shape of the feet but to a certain extent to determine the size of the material the shoes are made of.

Step 6 – Drawing Details

Details Details

Draw the inner details of the eyes, like pupils and reflections.

You can also paint the eyelids slightly above the eyes.

Shirt & Wrap Details

You can add a few lines at the bottom of the T-shirt to show wrap.

You can also draw thin lines on the ends of the sleeves as there will usually be stitches there.

Shorts & Wrap Details

In shorts, you can add some wrap in the middle where there is usually tension caused by the two legs pulling the shorts in different ways.

You can also add a pair of lines below for more details.

Knees

Draw just a little knee at the beginning of the view.

Shoe Details

With shoes, you can draw the interior details of their design.

Step 7 – Coloring

To color a drawing, you can fill each space with the correct color (make sure you leave the display white when you color the paper). Start with large areas and work your way up to the smallest.

Step 8 – Blurring & Finishing Drawing

In some basic anime styles, you can add shadows to areas that are often captured. The light comes from above in normal light conditions so that shadows will be cast down. In this case, the shadows will be on the neck from the head and arms and legs from the sleeves of the shirt and shorts.

An Anime Boy’s Head Facing Forward and Sideways Drawing

The anime boy shakes his head nearby

On the face, there will be the following shadows:

  • From the hair
  • Around the eyelids
  • The upper part of the eyes (from the eyelids)
  • Next to the nose

Conclusion

This tutorial covers a lot of information about drawing a young male anime character. Although it provides a good basis for drawing these characters, please remember that this is just one example. You can test yourself to try to create a character that looks different.
