How to Draw Male Anime Face in 3/4 View Step by Step
Draw Male Anime Face – This tutorial shows you how to draw a male anime face or manga style with a 3/4 view with detailed drawing examples step by step… Making a proper 3/4 head painting can be more challenging than combining heads and faces in anime style…
This lesson provides a detailed breakdown of the drawing process by sixteen steps in total to make things easier to understand.
If you are going to follow the tutorial using pencil and paper, it is Recommended that you start with light lines as you will need to clear parts of the drawing among some of the steps. (Draw Male Anime Face)

Step 1 – Draw the Top of the Head
Start by Drawing a Circle to get the basic shape of the top of the head.
Now I think of this circle as a transparent 3d sphere. Inside draw what could be a piece of apple at a certain angle. This will establish the head center and orientation. (Draw Male Anime Face)
Step 2 – Draw Face Center Line
Clear the oval half facing the back of the head (left side). From the front of the project is a straight line representing the center of the face. This line should be at a slight angle facing the back of the head. It should also reach at least a point below the chin.
It would be best if you had a basic building drawing to help you create the whole head and face when you are done.
Step 3 – Draw the Subject
Anime faces usually have very small beards if they are not straight. However, the chin will be painted a little flat at the end.
to make a face look a little masculineStep 4 – Draw Neck
While the tutorial is focused on the face, you will still want to add a neckline and just a little suggestion for the shoulders. Otherwise, the drawing will look weird.
The neck is usually looked forward. This angle is slightly visible in 3/4 view so draw a neckline with a small head just in front of the face. (Draw Male Anime Face)

Step 4 – Draw Ear
On the head, put the ear (one will be hidden behind the head). Make it 1/4 of the head at the top of the flathead.
Step 5 – Draw Eyes
Draw an eye frame as in the example above. He placed their peaks lined up above the ear (and below the horizontal point of the head point).
Move the eye closer to the viewer, wider than the other. And remember that the eyes are slightly placed on the head. To show this, draw the front eye farther away from the centerline of the face than the back eye.
Do not add any small details for now, as that will be done next. (Draw Male Anime Face)
Step 6 – Draw Eyebrows
A little distance above the eyes adds eyebrows. And to make the character less masculine, draw eyebrows bigger than you would see in a typical female anime character.
You can draw them in waves as shapes with inner edges pointed slightly down.
Similarly, the eyes bring the eyebrow closer to the viewer (0n left), wider and farther from the center of the head than from the far side.
Step 7 – Draw Nose
The character will have a well-defined nose with just one nose mark in this case. At the same time, it will still be fairly simple to maintain the anime look.
Keep the nose under its level at the same level as below the ears.
The nose bridge should rotate around the eyebrows. You can show just a little bit of this on the far side of the face with a line that describes the nose towards the far left (right side). (Draw Male Anime Face)

Step 8 – Draw the Mouth
Finally, add the mouth with its lower lip placed between the lower part of the nose and under the chin.
You can define the lower lip with just one small curve and slightly place the mouth above it. Because the mouth is curved and slightly tilted from the head, you will want to draw most of its shape so that it is on the front side of the face (left side of the middle line).
Since this is a male mouth, you can draw it very large (wide) compared to a female. To make it look a little more natural, you can also add a little break to the descriptive curve (this is very common in anime).
Step 9 – Clean the Drawing
At this stage, clean up your drawing by erasing all construction lines. It would be best if you had a simple anime and male frame of an anime style without hair or other small details of the eyes/ears when you are done. (Draw Male Anime Face)
Step 10 – Draw the Front of Hair
To summarize, the hair will be divided into front, sides and back highlighted with a light blue.
This is to make the painting process easier to manage and understand instead of just seeing things as a large hair collection.
Start by drawing the front part of the hair, as shown above.
In this case, the character will have natural-looking dirty hair of medium length.
They are drawn into large bumps with hair like these that point in slightly different ways. (Draw Male Anime Face)
Step 11 – Draw the Parts of the Hair
Add the side sections shown above with just a few lumps running down almost below the nose. And remember that the head will slightly hide the back of the hair.
Step 12 – Draw the Back of the Hair
Finally, add the “back part” of hair with large clumps spread out over the top and smaller and covered with clumps at the bottom.
Step 13 – Draw Small Face Details
In this section, erase the hidden parts of the head and hair and add the inner details of the eyes and ears.
The areas you will want to describe in/around the eyes are:
- Readers – the same or similar shape as irises but smaller
- Highlights (visible light) – large and small in each eye
- Top black/shaded areas – upper parts of irises
- Eyelids – just an index with lines slightly above the eyes
When you are done with this drawing section, you can darken your lines by tracing over them. However, leave out the lines that describe the brightness of the eye and the bright shadows as you want those to match the color/shade. (Draw Male Anime Face)
Step 14 – Color
Once you are done with the line drawing, you can add some color.
If the color is on the paper, you may want to leave the highlights on the hair (shown in the next step) white. Since this can happen randomly, you don’t need to say it before it is given, but you can if you find it easy to do that.
Alternatively, you can add highlights to the hair with a white straightening pen or white paint. When painting digitally, it is recommended that you add highlights and more color.
If the color looks too bright, you can easily trace it with the same color and hair.
You may also notice that the upper parts of the eyes/irises have the darkest shade of eyes. This is important because the eyes can look strange without this (as if the character has a crazy stare).
To avoid this eye shadow, even if you want a simple drawing without the shadow shown in the next step. (Draw Male Anime Face)
Step 15 – Add Encryption to Complete the Drawing
To complete the painting, you can add basic shading to several face areas. As with many other studies here on AnimeOutline, blurring will be done in the normal way. This means that shadows will be added to areas that are more likely to occur in normal lighting conditions, such as a well-lit room or daylight outside.
With this type of shading, add shadows to the following areas:
- Low haircut tips
- On the scalp (hair extensions and hair extensions)
- Around the eyelids
- Top parts of white eyes (cast eyebrows)
- Internal parts of the ears
- Under the nose
- Upper neck (thrown head)
Drawing a face with a 3/4 view can be a challenge, but you can make the process manageable by using the step-by-step method. Work from the smallest detail to the smallest detail and try and make sure you do the right thing in one step before moving on to the next. You can also create your drawing around simple situations and use the building lines as guides to help you.
